> First card? Three terms to know: **waiver** = yearly fee dropped if you spent enough, **milestone** = bonus for crossing a monthly target, **MITC** = the bank's official rulebook that has the final word.

## Why should you care? The one most salaried beginners should compare first

Ignite is one step above Sparks. Rs 999 a year, double the base points, double points on grocery and travel, a monthly bonus, one domestic plus one international lounge visit every three months, and a food discount.

If you put Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 a month on cards, start your comparison here.

## The catch, in plain words: the good stuff needs Rs 30,000 a month

Two lines decide this card. Double points on grocery and travel switch on only once you spend Rs 20,000 on grocery and travel itself in that month, per the official Value Chart. The 1,200-point bonus needs Rs 30,000 of total monthly spending.

Spend Rs 22,000 and you get a decent card. Cross both lines and you get a good one. Know which one you are before you apply.

## What Ignite actually gives you

**Fee:** Joining Nil (verified in the Fees table). Yearly Rs 999 plus GST, so Rs 1,179 all-in. Waived if you spend Rs 1,00,000 in a year, about Rs 8,400 a month. A Rs 25,000-a-month spender clears it in four months. Per the MITC, rent payments and wallet loads do not count toward the waiver, and paying rent by card costs 1% + GST.

**Rewards:** 4 points per Rs 200 on eligible spends (about 0.50%). On grocery and travel you earn 8 points per Rs 200 (about 1%), once you have spent Rs 20,000 on grocery and travel in that month. That matters because groceries and travel are where most of us spend anyway.

**Milestone:** 1,200 bonus points when your total monthly spend hits Rs 30,000. At Rs 0.25 per point per the Delights FAQ, that is about Rs 300 earned in that month, usable roughly two months later (the MITC says milestone points are available for redemption after two months). It repeats every month you cross the line. Fuel and some categories are usually excluded from such milestones, so confirm the exclusion list in the MITC.

**Welcome gift:** 1,000 bonus points when you spend Rs 10,000 within 30 days of card issuance. This is confirmed on the official compare page. Earlier press coverage left the Ignite welcome amount unclear, and some aggregator pages still show older text, so treat the official compare page as final and recheck on the day you apply.

**Lounge:** 1 free domestic plus 1 free international lounge visit per quarter at select airports. The free international visit is rare at this price.

**Food:** 15% off on EazyDiner, up to Rs 500 once a month.

**Fuel:** 1% surcharge waiver, up to Rs 250 per statement cycle.

**EMI:** 10% cashback up to Rs 500 on the first EMI booking of 12 months or more. One time only.

**Foreign spends:** 3.50% plus taxes. Fine for one trip, painful as a habit.

**Interest and extras:** 3.50% a month on dues and cash withdrawals. Add-on card free. No reward redemption fee. EMI setup Rs 99 plus taxes.

## What a year on Ignite looks like: Ritu's example

Ritu from Bengaluru spends Rs 28,000 a month. Some months she crosses Rs 30,000 and gets the 1,200-point bonus, some months she does not. Rough math at base plus grocery-travel doubles and five bonus months: around 8,000 to 9,000 points a year, worth roughly Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,250, plus Rs 500-a-month food savings when she eats out. Against a waived Rs 999 fee, that is a solid return for spending she was doing anyway.

Flip it. If Ritu spent only Rs 12,000 a month she would never see the bonus, the waiver would still come through, but Sparks at Rs 499 would have been the cheaper pick. Match the card to your spend, not your aspiration.

## What to do next

1. Check your last three months. Average above Rs 25,000? Ignite belongs on your shortlist. Below Rs 15,000? Pick Sparks instead.
2. In the first 30 days, plan Rs 10,000 of normal spending to lock the 1,000-point welcome. Do not invent spending.
3. Set a monthly reminder: did I cross Rs 30,000? If you are short by Rs 2,000, prepaying a utility bill beats missing the bonus. Never buy things you do not need just to cross the line.
4. Use the EazyDiner discount once a month. It is use-it-or-lose-it.

## Bottom line

Ignite is the value pick of this range for steady spenders: grocery and travel doubles, a reachable bonus and an international lounge visit at Rs 999. It only shines above Rs 25,000 a month.

**If you do one thing today:** average your last three months of card spends. Above Rs 25,000, open the official Ignite page and compare it with whatever card you hold now.

Welcome of 1,000 points on Rs 10,000 in 30 days is per the official compare page, which resolves the earlier press gap. Reward value Rs 0.25 per point per Bandhan's official Delights FAQ (confirm the credit-card catalogue uses the same Delight Point on apply day).
