First card? Three terms to know: waiver = yearly fee dropped if you spent enough, milestone = bonus for crossing a monthly target, MITC = the bank’s official rulebook that has the final word.
Why should you care? Oberoi voucher, unlimited international lounges, Rs 12 lakh waiver
Lumina is Bandhan’s top card. Rs 9,999 a year, Rs 10,000 Oberoi e-voucher as the joining perk, 16 points per Rs 200 at home and 24 abroad, 8 domestic plus unlimited international lounge visits, 1% foreign charge, golf, concierge and meet-and-greet.
It reads like a premium card. It is priced like one too: Rs 11,799 with GST, waived only at Rs 12 lakh a year.
The catch, in plain words: the math is brutal
Rs 12,00,000 a year means Rs 1,00,000 every single month. Miss it and you pay Rs 11,799 again next year.
The joining fee itself is Rs 9,999 plus GST, and the Oberoi voucher needs Rs 20,000 of spending in the first 30 days plus the joining fee paid. The voucher is also an e-voucher with the hotel’s terms, expiry and blackout dates — not a free holiday. Reviewers have called this card weak for the price, pointing at only 8 domestic lounge visits a quarter and milestone exclusions. Keep that healthy doubt while reading the benefits below.
What Lumina actually gives you
Fee: Joining Rs 9,999 plus GST. Yearly Rs 9,999 plus GST, so Rs 11,799 all-in. Waived on Rs 12,00,000 of yearly spending (rent payments and wallet loads do not count, per the MITC). Add-on card free. Paying rent by card costs 1% + GST, capped at Rs 500 per transaction.
Rewards: 16 points per Rs 200 on eligible domestic spends (about 2%). On international spends you earn 24 points per Rs 200 (about 3%). Bandhan’s official Delights FAQ states 1 Delight Point = Rs 0.25 with unlimited validity (never expire); confirm the credit-card catalogue uses the same Delight Point and expiry rule on apply day.
Milestone: Up to 10,000 bonus points when total monthly spend hits Rs 1,00,000. At Rs 0.25 per point per the Delights FAQ, that is about Rs 2,500 earned in that month, usable roughly two months later per the MITC. This is the biggest milestone in the range and the hardest to hit. Confirm exclusions in the MITC. Note: these are two separate bonuses per the MITC’s rewards section — accelerated earn plus the Rs 1,00,000 monthly milestone — so confirm both figures on the Lumina Value Chart on apply day.
Welcome gift: Rs 10,000 “Giftwrapped by Oberoi” e-voucher on spending Rs 20,000 within the first 30 days of issuance plus payment of the joining fee. Both conditions matter. No Rs 20,000 in 30 days, no voucher. Joining fee unpaid, no voucher.
Lounge: 8 free domestic visits per quarter plus unlimited international visits at select airports. The international side is the headline. Check guest policy and fair-use terms before assuming family travels free.
Food and movies: 25% off BookMyShow up to Rs 1,000 a month, plus 25% off EazyDiner up to Rs 1,000 a month. Up to Rs 2,000 a month combined, the richest lifestyle cap in the range.
Travel extras: 4 free airport meet-and-greet services, exclusive concierge for travel, dining and gifts, and low foreign mark-up of 1% on international spends. One per cent is low, not zero — on Rs 5 lakh of foreign spending it is still Rs 5,000 plus taxes.
Golf: 4 free lessons plus 4 games a year at leading courses in India and select courses abroad, one lesson per quarter.
Fuel: 1% surcharge waiver up to Rs 500 per statement cycle on fuel spends of Rs 500 to Rs 5,000 (corrected per the MITC fee table).
Insurance: Rs 1 crore air accidental death cover from ICICI Lombard, active from card activation day, per the MITC. Keep your nominee updated, it is a claim prerequisite. Read the policy wording for the rest.
Interest: 1.50% a month for existing customers with a CASA relationship, 3.50% for new customers. No cash-advance fee on Lumina, and the MITC late-fee table reads Nil for Lumina across slabs (verify the column mapping on apply day). Rewards redemption costs nothing, EMI processing is Rs 99, and Lumina carries no first-EMI cashback offer. Even at 1.50%, carrying a balance costs roughly 18% a year. Premium card, same rule: pay the full bill every month.
Who should even look at Lumina? An example
A family that already spends Rs 1.2 lakh a month, flies abroad twice a year, eats out often and plays golf will use the lounges, the 3% foreign earn, the Rs 2,000 monthly food and movie caps, the bonus and the waiver. For them the Rs 11,799 fee can wash out.
A Rs 40,000-a-month spender who wants “the best card” will pay Rs 11,799 every year, never see the waiver, rarely hit the Rs 1 lakh bonus and use two lounge visits. The Oberoi voucher covers the first-year fee on paper and then the math turns red. For that reader, Flare or Ignite wins by a distance.
What to do next
- Do not consider Lumina unless your last twelve months of card spending is already near Rs 12 lakh. Check bank statements, not memory.
- If you apply, note two dates: day 30 for the Rs 20,000 welcome target, and the joining-fee payment. Both unlock the voucher.
- Read the Oberoi voucher terms before counting it as value: expiry, blackout dates, room categories, taxes and whether weekends count.
- Confirm lounge guest rules, golf booking caps and milestone exclusions in the MITC. Premium perks always have booking windows.
- New to credit cards, or spending under Rs 50,000 a month? Close this page and read the Sparks or Ignite guide instead.
Bottom line
Lumina is a high-fee card for genuinely high spenders. The voucher, lounges and 3% foreign earn only work at Rs 1 lakh a month and above. Below that, the fee eats the benefits.
If you do one thing today: total your last twelve months of card spending. If it is under Rs 10 lakh, walk away from Lumina without regret.
Verified 9 Sep 2026: official Lumina page and Fees table (Joining and Renewal Rs 9,999 plus taxes, waiver Rs 12,00,000, forex 1.00%, fuel cap Rs 500). Reward value Rs 0.25 per point per Bandhan’s official Delights FAQ (confirm the credit-card catalogue uses the same Delight Point on apply day). Final word is the English MITC (CC/MITC/OA/090726/03/V-01). RBI’s card rules apply to billing, interest and closure.
